More Traveling and Potty Training

Update on our many travels. Helen made her first trip out of the country last weekend. We drove to Toronto for a bridal shower for my very good friend. Irene and I are both in her wedding, and Irene was the gift helper at the shower. She did a lovely job, and was very appreciative of the gifts. E.g., friend opens a food chopper, and Irene's face lights up. She hadn't a clue as to what most of the gifts actually were, but she was very expressive as if she did know. This weekend will be Helen's first airplane trip. [We like to get 'em started young.]

Irene is finally potty training!!! Even chocolate wasn't enough of an incentive, so we are trying a bare bottom while at home to encourage her to want to sit on the potty rather than make a mess on the floor. So far, she isn't doing too badly, and has only wet the floor a couple of times. She still gets a little chocolate each time she goes, so I know she has done something when I hear "I get some CHOCOLATE, Mom!!!"

Travels and Weddings

Helen is a good traveler! We took our first long trip with her last weekend, and she did well the entire time. She didn't cry for more than 20 minutes in the car each way, and she stretched out her feeding interval by half an hour so that we only had to make one stop each way! I'm very happy because I have two more trips this month. The first is another driving trip, and the second will be Helen's first time flying.

So far, we have FIVE weddings this year. January, April, May, June, and July! Last year, I was getting desperate because there weren't any weddings. At the moment, I can't remember attending even one wedding last year. I love weddings!
