Solids and More!

*tear* My second baby is growing up. *tear* Helen started solid food on Monday, started scooting backwards on Wednesday, and was able to sit up unassited today. STOP growing up already! As far as the solid food and sitting up are concerned, she's pretty much right where Irene was at the same age, but Irene was two months older before she ever scooted backwards.

We started with rice cereal mixed with expressed breastmilk (to give her a familiar flavor), and she seemed ok with it the first day. The second day she liked it, and by today, she can't get enough, nor can she get it fast enough. I think she still has a bit of tongue thrust, even though she is over six months now. She has some trouble swallowing it, but has figured out how to sort of suck it off the spoon.

"It's ok"

Yesterday, a friend and I went to a meeting together. She and I have babies who are only one month apart, and Irene is friends with her two other children. Mark and Irene hung out with her husband and older kids while the babies went with us. Well, her baby was wailing when we got back because he was hungry, and Irene came running up to try and cheer him up. My friend's daughter said, "Irene! Come see your baby! She's over here!" Irene went running over, took a quick look at Helen, said, "Oh. Helen's happy." then ran back to the other baby and started talking to him. "It's ok, it's ok..."
