Laundry

Irene did the sweetest thing today! I threw in a load of laundry this morning, which happened to include her brand new "big girl underwear". I had more than enough for one load, so I left the second load in a basket in front of the washer. She was strangely quiet for a while, then she came to me and asked if I would start the dryer and the washer so that she could wear her new underwear soon. I went downstairs, and she had transferred the load from the washer to the dryer and the load from the basket was in the washer!!! I started the dryer, and went to put detergent in the washer. We have a front-loading washer, so the detergent goes in a drawer. For that type of load, I use powdered detergent so I can add Oxy-Clean. Lo and behold, the detergent compartment was FULL of powdered detergent! There are three compartments in the drawer, detergent, bleach and fabric softener, and ONLY the detergent compartment had anything in it. I didn't know she knew that much about washing clothes, even though she's been watching me do it for a long time! I had to scoop most of the detergent back out, so I'm very thankful that she didn't use the liquid that I also have. I was stunned. I'm still in shock at what my THREE YEAR OLD just did! For once, I'm in shock in a good way.
