Children Are Not Easy

I'm slacking big-time. Two kids are really killing my blogging. We do have some big news around here, but it's now over two months old. The week after Thanksgiving, Helen started walking. Today, she is nearly running. She and Irene are both climbing to new heights, as today I found Helen standing on the toilet and Irene standing on the counter in the same bathroom. Helen was only banging on the lid of toilet tank, but Irene had just started playing in the medicine cabinet. HOW does one keep dangerous things out of the hands of the three year old who knows better but does things anyway??? And can reach the highest shelf using chairs and such. *sigh* This parenting thing isn't getting any easier.

Helen's first birthday came and went with as much fanfare as we could in the midst of the holiday season. We discovered a potential dairy allergy that I'm praying she grows out of. I say potential because it hasn't been confirmed, but she does break out on her chin whenever she consumes dairy. I really had no idea how many things have dairy in them! It's almost like swearing in a movie that would otherwise be suitable for children. Does not need to be there. I mean, whole wheat bread? Chicken nuggets? Animal crackers? Cheese stick...wait, cheese is dairy... C'mon!
